Horse riding holidays in Kenya

Fortunately for us one of the best ways to see Kenya is from Horseback. Horse riding holidays in Kenya allow you to REALLY see this beautiful country and get up close and personal with the wildlife.A group of horse riders come face to face with a herd of Elephants in Kenya

Kenya has been described as the "Cradle of Mankind", "Africa in one country!" "The quintessential safari country." It is without doubt a country of great beauty. Visitors leave the country with a deep unconditional love for the people of Kenya and the Masai Mara.

For others it is the deep faith of the people, a country which has one of the highest amounts of missionaries and Christians per square kilometre, a rich Asian and Islamic culture, and a unique history and stories of the European pioneers and settlers which draws them to Kenya.

Please note Equitour does not offer flights directly. For Flights to Kenya we recommend Just The Flight.

Kenya - Revered by anthropologists as the 'cradle of humanity'. Kenya has the globe's most magnificent wildlife parks, unsullied beaches, thriving coral reefs, memorable mountain escarpments and ancient Swahili cities. The Swahili word safari (literally, journey) wouldn't mean much to most people if it wasn't for this East African adventure land. Be prepared for the annual mass migration of wildebeests in the Masai Mara. Kenya is a country of eastern Africa, bordering Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and the Indian Ocean. Nairobi is its capital and largest city.

History & Background: Kenya's history dates back many centuries from the internal diaspora or the early settlements and migrations. Then came the formation of the various language groups who developed their own religions, traditions, governments and ruling systems in which they dictated their way of life and how they managed to keep alive by their trade and occupations. After this the white settlers arrived, which was followed by the fight for liberation, which gave birth to the Mau Mau freedom fighters and the rise of the Kenyan heroes. In recent history Kenya gained independence in 1963 with Kenyatta becoming Kenya's first president. At Kenyatta's death in 1978, Daniel arap Moi became President, and in democratic multiparty elections in 1992 and 1997 won re-election. In 2002, Moi was constitutionally barred from running and Mwai Kibaki, was elected President.

Best Game Viewing Months: You can go on safari year round in Kenya with July through to March being excellent months and April to June being good months to go on safari. In the Masai Mara it's excellent to go game viewing from June through to March and good game viewing from April through to June. All these areas like Aberdares, Amboseli, the Rift Valley and Lakes, Sambura and Shaba, Tsavo East and West have excellent game viewing throughout the year.
