Riders admire the windmill at Alphonse Daudet, Provence, FranceAn introduction to trail riding, and the Luberon regional nature park. The discovery of its beautiful landscapes make beginners fears soon disappear.The kindness of the horses allows a rapid development of the rider in all gaits suitable for trail riding (walk trot and canter). A two day Inn to Inn trail at the end of the stay (during high season) will give you a taste of travelling on horseback. Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1 : Meeting at Mas de Recaute (Mas means Provencal farm in the local dialect). You will meet Your guide, your chef and all the team working at the Mas. Presentation of the ride and dinner.

Day 2

Day 2 : The week will start with explanations on how to take care of your horse. After tacking, you will get more acquainted with your horse on a short hack in the surrounding area. After lunch discover the hills of the « Small Luberon », covered in a dense oak tree forest.

Day 3

Day 3 : A whole day ride today ! You will leave in the morning through a pine tree forest, and make your way down towards the Durance valley. Discover the Durance river and its clear waters. The river banks will be ideal for small canters, and will soon lead you to a beatiful lunch, prepared and brought by your chef in a nice shady area, right by the river ! Before leaving again, enjoy a well deseved nap under a tree or take a swim with your horse ... The choice is yours ! The afternoon ride will take you back to the Mas through forests, vinyards and cherry orchards.

Day 4

Day 4 : This morning, your horse will take you to a wine cellar. Ride among olive trees and vinyards to a local wine producer close to the Mas. Stop to taste the local Luberon Wine, a Rober Parker selection ! Lunch at the Mas. You will take the afternoon of riding and either stay at the Mas to relax in the garden, or take a trip in the minibus around the Luberon Regional Nature Park, to visit some provencal villages : Lauris, Lourmarin, Ansouis.

Day 5
Day 5 : Today you are of for a two-day ride in the Luberon Nature Park. The morning ride will take you towards Lourmarin through Provencal landscapes of olive trees, cherry orchard and Mediterranean forests. Lunch by Lourmarin and nap before leaving again in the afternoon to climb up the hills of the « Big Luberon ». Breatht-taking panorama on top of the hill to the Alps on the northern side, and the Mediterranean sea on the southern side. Accomodation tonight will be in an Inn in the heart of the Luberon hills.

Day 6

Day 6 : You will head back to Mas de Recaute following the Aiguebrun stream, the only permanent water course of the whole of the Luberon hills ! On the way, admire the perched village of Bonnieux. After a good lunch, your horse will take through rolling hills to admire beautiful views on the Durance valley and the surrounding hills, such as the Montagne Sainte Victoire: Cezanne’s mountain. You will arrive at the Mas late afternoon and take good care of your horse before letting him loose for a well deserved rest. Dinner party for your last night at the Mas...!

Day 7

End of the ride after breakfast.

Accommodation

2 options: All in 2-3 person bedrooms or half in bedrooms, half in dormitories. Single bedrooms option.

Horses & Tack

Spanish Barb mixed or other mix. Local horses, fit and wilful, adapted to trail riding. French trail riding saddles.

What to Take

Sleeping bag (if you have chosen a dormitory accommodation), rain coat, helmet, sun cream, swimsuit (summer), comfortable ankle boots with chaps (high boots are unsuitable), flashlight, pocket knife, little water bottle, little first aid kit. During the trail ride, you should only bring one bag 15kg max. Don’t bring valuables. Cap Rando and our hosts cannot be held responsible for loss, theft or damage to any luggage transported or left at their establishments.

Arrival

Coming by car: Meeting at the Mas de Recaute (phone of the accommodation: 04 90 08 29 58). Lauris is located on the D 973, between Cavaillon (26 km) and Pertuis (18 km). Highway A 7 Paris - Marseille: Exit : Cavaillon or Sénas. Highway A 51 Nice - Aix-en-Provence - Sisteron: Exit Pertuis. Minibus transfer from Mas de Recaute to Eygalières. Your car will stay at the Mas de Recaute for the duration of the ride. Reception between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Coming by train: We offer following transfers at preset times. Aix TGV station (in Zola hall): meeting at 5:30 p.m. Aix center station (in front of the station): meeting at 5:45 p.m. Transfer to Eygalieres. Coming by plane: Meeting at Marseille airport, hall 4, in front of the information desk at 5 p.m. Transfer to Eygalieres.
