Arrival, and transfer to your hotel in Claviere for dinner with your trekking crew.

| Day 2 |
|
Our first day, you will meet and get to know your horse, then we will set off on a day ride to explore Monti Della Luna, (Mountains of the Moon) you will ride through beautiful larch forest, stunning alpine meadows, and explore some of the many picturesque mountain lakes in the area.

| Day 3 |
|
Today we have an early start as we set off for the Queyras, passing Lago Nero (the black lake) then cross over Col Bousson, (2162m) which marks the border between France and Italy. From here we head down in the Cervieres valley, then climb up to the Col de Pèas (2629m) with the impressive peak of Pic de Rochebrune (3308m) on our right. From the top of the pass, you can admire the spectacular views into the Queyras; we then ride through lovely forests and meadows as we wind our way down to the valley of Guil, passing through traditional villages and hamlets.

| Day 4 |
|
We begin today traversing, through forests, above the Guil Valley, we then drop down to the village of Molines-en–Queyras passing the beautiful and unusual church.
Again we start to climb until we reach the Col Fromage (2301m) where you get some stunning views if the Pointe de la Saume (3043m) and Pics de la font-Sanct (3385m) After admiring the views we head off down to the beautiful, remote village of Ceillac, situated at the confluence of 2 valley’s, underneath the Pointe de la Saume.

| Day 5 |
|
Beginning the day with a brisk climb to the Col de Bramousse (2251m) we enter the Bois de Souillet (the forest of Souillet) before descending to the village of Bramousse, below here we cross the river and begin climbing the other side of the Combe de Queyras. We again climb steeply to a gentle traverse through the Larch trees until we reach the torrent d l’Izoard, which we follow until our overnight stop.

| Day 6 |
|
Today is one of the longer riding days. From La Chalp we follow the valley up to the village of Brunissard, and then we take a trail up the mountainside to the Col des Ayes (2477m) with scenery of majestic rocky peaks all around us.
We then ride down to the historic town of Briançon, passing by two of the Vauban Forts that surround the town then continue through forests of pine and larch up to the Col de Montegenvre and cross the border into Italy and Claviere.

We use comfortable, traditional 2 and 3 star hotels, all meals are included. Dinner is typically three courses, continental style breakfast and a picnic style lunch. Drinks are not included. Please inform us in advance of any special dietary requirements. |

The region of the Queyras boasts 300 days of sun a year!
However it is the high mountains, and the weather can be unpredictable, it can snow at any time.
Generally, in summer, you can expect temperatures between 5-25 degrees c, and early July there could be some snow on the high passes. Warm clothing is essential.
