Arrival at Les Relais des Garennes, welcome drink, and dinner |
| Day 2 |
|
After breakfast, off to the stables to get acquainted with your horse. You will be shown how to groom and tack up your horse, as you will be expected to do this every morning (of course there is always help). Depart for a ride of about two and a half hours through the surrounding forests. Lunch is back at the riding centre. The afternoon is free to relax, swim, play tennis or do whatever you want. |
| Day 3 |

A full day ride to Ladornac. Lunch will be in a ‘auberge de campagne’. After lunch, a siesta, or you can visit an ancient church. Return ride to the centre. |
| Day 4 |
|
A half day ride over the ‘Causses de Gignac’ with a short visit to the windmill. Return ride to the centre for lunch with the afternoon free. |
| Day 5 |
|
A full day ride to Laval, where lunch will be taken with the farmer and his son. His family specialise in breeding pigs, chickens and rabbits which you can visit if you wish. |
| Day 6 |
|
A half day ride to the picturesque villages of Ferriere and Chartrier with their 16th and 17th century architecture. |
| Day 7 |
|
A full day ride to visit a goose farm. Lunch is taken at the farm. Return ride to Les Garennes, and a farewell party for those departing the next day. |
| Day 8 |
|
Day off for the horses, guides and riders. Departure for guests. Those staying on for a second week with cars, can take the opportunity to visit local towns – your guides will be able to recommend tours. Evening; arrival and reception of new guests. |
| Day 9 |
|
Ride in the morning with the newly arrived guests. Ride across the ‘Causses de Nadaillac’. View the village with its old winding roads, towers and buildings. There are shops where you can make small purchases. Lunch and return to the riding centre. The afternoon is free. |
| Day 10 |
|
Full day ride to Borreze and the surrounding area. You can take a look at the old watermill of Maitre Neyrat that was built by the English during the 100 years war. It is still in use today. |
| Day 11 |
|
Ride through the forests of Russols, a well-known and very ancient woodland. It is home to a number of wild animals such as deer and wild boar. Lunch at the riding centre, with the afternoon free. |
| Day 12 |
|
A full day ride to visit the trout farm of ‘Le Blagour’ where you can relax over a lunch prepared by the trout farm using a special secret recipe of the region. |
| Day 13 |
|
A half day ride across the arid steppes of Dadaillac, and if everyone is in the mood, you can engage in some friendly horseback competition on the village green. |
| Day 14 |
|
A ride to the lake of Chasteaux, where you will see people windsurfing, water skiing and sailing. Lunch is at a restaurant situated on the shores of the lake. Return to the riding centre in the early evening, for a celebration and farewell party. |

You will be met in Souillac Railway Station at about 6.30pm on the first day. There is one train per day from Austerlitz (Paris) to Souillac - 13.54/18.29. You will be met and taken to the riding centre nearby. On departure you will be taken to the railway station for your train back at 9.29am arriving in Austerlitz at 13.55. Equitour can arrange this for you - please ask: cost is approx £80.00 return fare. Please organise flights to coincide with these train timings. |
| Horses and Tack |
|
The horses are of mixed breed, French pleasure horses. You will use the same horse during the trail unless there is some reason to change. English style tack is used. |
| Accommodation |
|
The centre itself consists of a large farmhouse and offers simple accommodation in single and double rooms, all with en-suite facilities. There is a swimming pool, tennis and squash courts. The meals are sumptuous and taken at a table d’hôte |
| Climate |
|
From May to September the days are pleasantly warm and the evenings are balmy. Rain can occur occasionally at any time of the year, like anywhere in Europe. |
