The Return of Wild Horses in Mongolia The Return of Wild Horses in Mongolia

The Zoological Society of London is having a special gala evening on 12th December 2006 featuring the reintroduction of Prezewalski's Horse into Mongolia.

Mongolia, the size of Western Europe has been a safe haven in Central Asia for many of Central Asia's rarest species including Prezewalski's Horse, Snow Leopard and Saiga Antelope. In recent times the Mongolian economy has grown and expanded threatening the vast and diverse landscape that has been home to these rare and beautiful animals.

The speakers at the meeting entitled Mongolia: The Last Refuge for Central Asia's Large Mammals will be:

Dr Jonathan Bailie, Research Fellow Institute of Zoology
Jargal Jamsramjav, Director, Steppe Forward Programme, National University of Mongolia
Dr Sarah R. B. King, Association Takh, Station Biologique du la Tour de Valat

During the evening there will be a silent auction of unique Mongolian items including some equestrian items as well as a photographic print showing Przewalski’s horse Equus przewalskii ferus in Mongolia.

The meeting starts at 6pm on the 12th December 2007
